Night Sky

My soul,
Trapped in years
Of humdrum habit
Stirs.

I awaken.
And yawn
Shifting stiff
Tired bones.

Restless,
Forgotten muscles
Constrict slowly.
With unexpected
Feather light force
Loosen up,
And flake open
Corroded bars.

I smell the crisp air,
Feel its silent sting
Caress my face.
I touch the damp
Mossy lidded grass.
And hear myself
Sigh.

I look up and glimpse
The dusky night sky,
Seeing the stars
As if for the very first time.
